Let’s talk Mother’s Day!
For years I tried to be “low maintenance” by saying, “You don’t have to get me anything…” And then sulked if my husband actually listened to me.
So now I’ve changed my approach. I communicate ahead of time what would make me feel special, drop some hints and then leave the rest up to him. I tell him “I’d really love some flowers, a thoughtful card and something you’d think I’d like.” Nowadays he involves our older kids and asks them what they would like to get me. Some people might be against asking for something they’d like and would rather be completely surprised. And then some mamas know that their partner could use a heads up.
I know for me personally, it doesn’t have to be a big, grandiose gift, it’s more about the thoughtfulness. Moms just wanted to feel celebrated, loved and appreciated for all of their hard work.
I did a question box in stories earlier this week asking what you wanted for Mother’s Day and you ladies BROUGHT it with your suggestions! One said, “Target shopping spree” and I just want to say, SAME, girl!
With your help, I put together a Mother’s Day gift guide. So go ahead and send this blog post to your partner if you want to get his wheels turning towards some gifts you might like!
And here are a few suggestions that came in that can’t fit in a box but are definitely gift-worthy:
– To sleep in
– To not have to cook
– Someone to clean my house
– A day to relax by myself
– A meal out
