Sanity Purchases

Sanity Purchases

I call these “sanity purchases” because they’ll save your sanity. We all love our little ones more than life itself. But mama needs a hands-free moment to drink coffee, fold laundry, and answer emails!

New mamas, I know you’ll be tempted by other pretty options but truly (and not sponsored) Fisher Price is where it’s at! I’ve tried so many chairs and swings and few others hit the nail on the head quite like Fisher Price does!

I remember when I had my first baby I didn’t have any of these! I loved holding my daughter so much but by week 6, I knew I needed some help. I needed some way to set her down, other than her newborn Boppy Lounger cushion she quickly was outgrowing.

I remember like it was yesterday, it was a Sunday afternoon and I asked my husband take us to Buy Buy Baby to pick out a chair or swing because I knew I couldn’t face Monday without a good chair to rest her in.

I realize buying all of this gear might sound expensive and cumbersome to store it when baby isn’t using it, but in my opinion they are worth every penny! A great way to get around buying it all yourself is to find a friend who’s due around 6 months before or after you and agree to both buy half of the items you’ll need and trade off using them.

I got the Fisher-Price Sweet Snugapuppy Dreams Deluxe Bouncer and it saved my bacon! It was great for when I was cooking, folding laundry, or needing to set her down for a bit. Babies usually use this between months 1 and 7. They can technically go in as a newborn, just be mindful of their neck and head position (make sure their head and neck aren’t slumping forward compromising their breathing) in these chairs and swings when they are tiny. And it’s safest to always be in the room when baby is in a swing or chair like this.

With my third baby, I got the Fisher-Price Sweet Snugapuppy Dreams Cradle ‘n Swing and it was a game changer! He loved the songs and mobile, and it gave me several handsfree stretches to tend to my other kids! Babies usually use this between months 1 and 7 as well.

The Fisher-Price Deluxe Kick & Play Piano Gym & Maracas is great for their wake windows and tummy time. Babies usually like this between newborn age all the way to month 7 until they take off rolling and then soon after, crawling.

The Fisher-Price Color Climbers Jumperoo is great for months 5 to 11. It allows them to work on standing and gives you some much needed baby confinement to get things done, since by this age they are rolling and then crawling and then walking and just keeping busy!
